YESHUA'S HOUSE

Yeshua Above All

Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord.

Running Up the Mountain

In 2023 one door closed and another opened. A kind man gave a small sum of seed money and said, "Could you start a church with this?" He knew our vision - to start a fellowship that at once walked in the Spirit and took seriously the commandments of our God - but he also knew such a small sum wouldn’t go far. And he was right. But together they remembered, though we are weak and our resources little, “all things are possible with God.”

Discipleship

At the core, discipleship is walking as Jesus walked. By the indwelling Spirit, we seek to love as Jesus loved, and do as Jesus did. Yeshua did nothing of His own accord. Rather, He lived perfectly in the instruction of the Father. At YH, we seek to do the same. A good place to start? The Father's appointed times.

Latest Message & Discussion

We're a small-ish church, but we're filled with incredible teachers. While loving Jesus is certainly the goal (a right response to the grace given us), we also want to be like Him. We want to embody the Word as our Master embodied the Word. In fact, we contend the Law done wrong looks like the Pharisees. But done right, it looks like Yeshua. And because our fellowship attracts those who both love God with their whole being and have rightly equated sin with lawlessness (1 Jn 3:4), we've accidentally acquired more than our fair share of brilliant theologians.

This Shabbat

At YH, we know what we're about. And what we're not about. We're not a self-help church. We're not here to entertain. Yes, we want your marriage healthy and your financial life in order, but that's a fruit, not an objective. We don't aim to fix symptoms. Rather, our goal is to live into the Kingdom with an understanding the fruit will take care of itself.

Here's what lots of people don't know. The Bible is about Yahweh and the covenantal relationship God wants with a people. It's about conforming us into Yahweh's image, and not the other way around. So if the Kingdom is your goal, YH might be for you.

Given the above, we devote much of what we do to the understanding of Scripture. It's a lot of work, but oh so worth it. To that end, week-in and week-out, we study the Scriptures verse-by-verse. But we do it a particular way. The Torah is the foundation. That's Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Master that first, and all the rest of Scripture makes sense. And for that reason, we call our weekly Scripture reading the "Torah Portion."

We read the Torah Portion during the week, then we teach and discuss on the seventh day.

In Passionate Pursuit of The Way

At Yeshua's House, we're passionate about Jesus and His Word. And by Word, we mean the whole Bible. And because that's true, we're willing to let go of the traditions we've clung to (if in error) in favor of what's right. Sometimes, we admit, it's a little disorienting. But to us, it doesn't matter. If we've be taught a way is right, but then discover there's a more accurate way (Acts 18:26), we change course. In the Apostle Paul's day, there was phrase for such people - they were called followers of "the Way." With their whole hearts, the Way-ers believed faith in Jesus was the only way to be in right standing with the Father. At the same time, by the Spirit, they committed themselves to the torah (instructions) of their God (Acts 21:20). They were disruptors (Acts 19:23) , to be sure, and we count it all joy to be counted among them.
